Challenge 7: Assembly & Functionality Video
⏱️ ~1–2 hrs
.
Show it, don’t just say it. This is your capstone: a finished, working puzzle box presented clearly and professionally.
Overview
Your task: Create a concise Assembly/Functionality Presentation Video of your fully constructed puzzle box, showing assembly highlights and the complete solving sequence. Your box must include all laser-cut and 3D-printed parts, plus any finishing processes. Align with the requirements.
What to Do (4 Steps)
1
Complete Final Construction
- Integrate laser-cut frame and 3D-printed mechanisms; apply finishing (sanding, gluing, surface treatment) as needed.
2
Plan & Capture the Video
- Max duration: 2 minutes • Min resolution: 720p.
- Include: clear view of the completed box, assembly highlights (key parts joining), and the full solving sequence.
- Keep shots steady, well-lit, and easy to follow; add brief captions if helpful.
3
Create Final Documentation (PDF)
- Complete parts list for every component with manufacturing process (laser cut, 3D printed, hand finished, etc.).
- Step-by-step solving guide explaining puzzle order and mechanics.
4
Prepare Your Submission
- Organize everything in a single publicly shared Google folder; verify links and playback.
What to Submit
A publicly shared Google folder (so anyone can view) containing:
- Presentation video (≤2 minutes, ≥720p) showing assembly highlights and the full solving sequence
- Final design PDF including:
- Parts list with each of their manufacturing processes listed
- Step-by-step guide to solving the puzzle box
Pro Tips
- Storyboard first: 3–4 beats (intro, assembly highlight, solve sequence, outro title card).
- Use continuous takes for the solve; avoid confusing cuts during critical steps.
- Place the camera at hand height; avoid blocking key mechanisms with your fingers.
✓
Why do this?
- Demonstrate end-to-end mastery — from ideation to fabrication, prove your box works as intended.
- Communicate like a pro — concise product videos are industry-standard for sharing designs with teams and clients.
- Portfolio ready — a tight, polished video + doc package you can share publicly.
- Compliance check — confirm your build meets the requirements before the final score.
